Welcome to my Travel & Lifestyle blog – Follow Every Heartbeat.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope this blog offers you inspiration and insight to explore the most beautiful places, no matter how far or close, and no matter what apprehensions you may have. I started this blog to document the amazing places I have already visited and the many more I plan to see. I have left a career in Commercial Law to gain one of the greatest experiences one can have – travel and exploration. I have only visited a small fraction of the world so far (21 countries, 6 continents….& counting) but, I have big plans to visit as many places as possible and I am excited for you to join me on this journey.

I have always had a love of travel, exploring new cities, towns and experiencing the culture and of course the local delicacies. However, sometimes I have felt quite limited due to a genetic heart condition I was diagnosed with in 2010 – Brugada Syndrome. This is a rare condition that affects the way electrical signals pass through the heart, causing the heart to beat dangerously fast.

Consequently, being diagnosed as ‘high risk’ I undergone a heart operation to fit an Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator (ICD) in 2013, 4 weeks before graduating from Law school. An ICD is a life-saving device with wires placed into the right chambers of the heart to stop life-threatening heart rhythms by sending shocks, preventing sudden cardiac arrest. Yes – it was scary at the beginning, I had to adapt to living with an electrical device inside my body beneath my collarbone, operations every 6-10 years, annual checkups, a scar on my chest and some lifestyle changes (lets just say I’ll never be able do a skydive or bungee jump) but, it’s all cool! It’s there to protect me.

I have not let it change my life or let it stop me – I still LOVE to party (Jack Daniels & Diet coke please) and have travelled to numerous beautiful destinations (namely Australia, Thailand, Boston, New York, Morocco, Budapest…& many more) but now I am ready to see A LOT more. I can happily say that I am ready for the new adventures and travel in whatever way possible, with a group of friends, one friend or solo (along with my wires..haha!)

This is how ‘Follow Every Heartbeat’ was created – me following my irregular, crazy Brugada heartbeats around the world!
